Japanese Created Fluorescent Mario from Bacteria
I was amazed that Team Osaka’s nanobiology lab created a petri-dish image that resembled famous Nintendo game character Mario.
Team Osaka submitted their glowing Mario to the 2009 international Genetically Engineered Machine competition (iGEM). For the whole thing to work they combined standard DNA sequences known as BioBricks with their own special DNA snips to create a mixtures of bacteria that glow.
The next step into the future?
