Baccano! Not Your Usual Anime
Just a few days ago I finished Baccano! from a downloaded torrent with dual audios on it. As always I tend to try the English dub first to see if it stand in quality but to my amazement the English voice actor played the characters well and totally fits the 1930′s feel of the mafia, street gangs & the Camorra.
I do like watching anime on the original voice actor but sometimes English dub standout so much that you just can’t ignore or simply pass it up. Another good example would be the legendary Black Lagoon who English dubs are also one of the best from my standpoint and I heard a third season may pop out soon.
I’m a bit upset that I did not discover this anime earlier before since it have been release back in 2007 because each and every episodes make you want more of it. I must say that the story and plots are devised nicely to give the viewer a sense of feel that they are also included inside the story. Just like “Watchmen” the movie whereby the director split up the stories from different characters into finer and smaller parts then reunited at the end of the whole movie giving each character to share their views and ideas.
At first you may not know what’s the hell is happening with all the shits flying around but as you dig deeper and deeper you will find out at the end of the anime itself. I don’t want to spoil any of you but just want to let you know that Baccano! is worth the time spend to watch it.
The animation are top notch with tons of fighting scenes between the mafia, the camorra & your local gangs. What you should find memorable is the two eccentric thieves Isaac & Miria who are laughable and funny through out the whole series stealing non expensive goods all around while passer by thought they are rehearsing for a movie shootout.
Let me give you a little hint on the backdrop of the whole idea is all about. Ok, did you watch “Full Metal Alchemist“? or maybe “The sword of the Stranger? These two talk about a similar thing in mind in order to obtain a certain something in life. Try guessing.. is not that hard and if unable try to watch Baccano! to find out more.
The OP for Baccano – Gun & Roses is currently one of my favorite of my instrumental music.
As you might have guessed that the animation is produce from Brain’s Base who are also the creator of Spice & Wolf II and currently the well acclaim “Durarara!!” which talk about the headless raider base on the famous and feared folklore of Dullahan.
To top it off there is an awesome AMV entry last year entitle Gidra – Rumble in the New York. The video show some of the best parts from the anime while the presentation and music are greatly impressive.
I admire and respect this character because of the vast knowledge and information he had. I like how he speak and present itself in a sense not every average joe can show. He did kinda remind me of Kyoya Ootori from Ouran High School Host Club.
