Driving License In Malaysia
Getting a driving license in Malaysia is not hard as they seem to be. As a matter of fact it’s quite easy to accomplish the whole thing within 2 months given that you feel confident enough to take your test. The usual cost to acquire a competent driving license would cost you around RM 1,000 which is not much getting one excluding the “extra fee” you might want to pay just to make sure you “pass” everything.
The first round would be your test on the rules that you must know in order for you to avoid unnecessary accidents and embarrassments. You will need to score at least 42/50 of the overall questions if not you’ll need a resit for it. The test include color, rules, sign boards & point deduction test. As for me I succeeded the second attempt because I have no idea the translation would be that horrible. My friend did recommended me to take the Malay version but I turn a deaf ear and have no regret for it.
After that you’ll be moving on to taking driving lessons for 8 hours as minimum and 16 hours at maximum. 2 hours per lesson is the usual for any student and of course you can ask for 3 hours per lessons. If my knowledge serve me right each hour cost RM 15. As for me I took a total of 5 lessons which accumulate up to 10 hours of driving on the road. An advice to those who are afraid to inquire well it is the time to really ask about what you don’t know and know just to confirm everything that you have a hunch on.
You’ll need to perform exactly 4 tests on the examination day.
- Up hill parking
- Side parking
- 3 point turn
- Road test
These four are easily passable if you do it right without any sudden stop to the engine or hitting on the poles align to guide you. Just do what the instructor teach you and most of all just relax. I for once without any problems gone through all of the 4 tests handsomely. The tricks are you must listen to your engine all the time and understand the clutch on each vehicle. As my dad always said “Just play with your crotch clutch”.
On the exam day it can easily worn you out because it literally take a whole day to complete the whole test. I used up my 7 hours there waiting inline to wait until my turn for the wheel. I thought it would be fast and smooth then I was proven wrong when I arrived.
Parking test
There are 3 schedule sessions and I’m in the second session at the number of 34. The time on the green is a lie!!
Great news! Because we are using new cars for our road test and kancil is history as far as I’m concern. As a record I have attained my driving license and under probation for 2 years after I’ll be able to exchange it for a CDL (Competent Driver Licence) in return.
