New JLPT System 2010

14 January 2010 View Comments

I did heard about the new system being implemented on the new JLPT of scoring and marking of the overall test but did not anticipate that it have added another level into the system until I check out their site.

There are no more JLPT Level 4, 3, 2 and one of the most hardest level 1 in fact it were separated into five level of studies which rank according to this document.

N1 (equal to JLPT 1)

N2 (equal to JLPT 2)

N3 (It’s a bridge between level 3 and 2 so I call it level 2.5)

N4 (equal to JLPT 3)

N5 (equal to JLPT 4)

With this new level being introduced, people who have an interest to continue have no reasons to fear over the significant jump from JLPT Level 3 to JLPT Level 2 because the huge amount of kanji and daily words needed. Now I know why people keep complaining about the jump and drop it at level 3.

I’m planning to take the JLPT N5 at the end of this year. Is anyone beside me taking it?
