Say Bye Bye to Valentine’s Day In Japan
Valentine’s Day is one of those day that are celebrate with the one you love or borrowing it as a chance to lurk the unsuspected victim to be with to suck them dry cough** money **cough!
Valentine Day in Japan is quite the opposite of how thing operate in the west whereby women are the one to give chocolate to their male counterpart or boyfriend. If it’s just your usual male friend then it’s a Giri Choco or a honmei choco which are given to the men or women that you are serious about.
Well, things have certainly change that the trend right now is tomo choco (friendship chocolate) have become popular among women. A recent survey found that 74 percent of women plan to give a Valentine’s gift to a female friend while only a handful of only 32 percent intended to buy something for a boyfriend.
It is still a new trend that have slowly taken the country by storm and the male counterpart have started to wonder why they receive less chocolate every year. Valentine’s day might be fun to those who have already had that special someone but have no tear(not fear!) for those who don’t you can too enjoy yourself or just pass it by like any ordinary day.
To be honest I treat any holidays like there are nothing special in them this maybe due to the lack of enthusiasms to celebrate any major celebration. When I was young I thought Chinese New Year & Christmas were something but when I get older it start to make no sense to me. How about you? Anyone to celebrate with?
