Literally, speaking I received my monthly mobile phone bill recently that had blow me off with the ridiculous pricing on data transfer on its network. If you are a Malaysian then maybe you’ll know this notorious telco company. Are the bubbles popping out yet from your head?

It’s Maxis! And no it’s not the game company that created The Sims series. This is the Malaysian company who deals in the mobile phone service business that is started back in 1995. From this day and age data transfer should be cheaper & faster on mobile phone like the Japanese did with theirs.

The money I need to pay for mobile Internet is RM 116.85  which is quite a shocking figure for me because I just used up 11,685 KB of data, which equal to 12 MB just to make it simple. That would translate into a high quality MP3 on my Ipod. It’s kinda ridiculous in my term.

RM 0.01 cent for 1 KB would sound cheap but when pile up you got a seriously huge number waiting for ya. Let’s do the math..

10KB = RM 0.10 cent (eg: a simple document)

100KB = RM 1 (eg: a low quality Image)

1 MB – RM 10 (eg: an average quality image)

10 MB = RM 100 (eg: a high quality Mp3)

100 MB = RM 1000 (eg: an average quality video or a shrunken anime episode)

Imagine using 1 GB of data transfer ^_^ Honestly, I do not know what are the pricing of data transfer out there with other networks. Anyone on other network beside Maxis? And happy celebrating your Golden Week!
