Recommended Anime For This Summer 2010

Summer season is here again while most of the hardcore population are watching the world cup. We too, the otaku have our own paradise to rejoice ourself from action animu to slice of life kind and even darker genre are introduced in to this awesome season. Woohoo!~ It seem like a lot to digest but fear not you’ll be able to choose from these 10 recommended titles listed here.

1] High School of the Dead

Summary

Takashi Komuro is a normal highschool boy, until an infection breaks out that turns people into zombie-like creatures. Along with his friends & the school nurse, they fight their way out and continue their journey to find out what exactly has happened to the world.

Thoughts

I think it will be the best this season from the looks of it. Episode 1 was awesome indeed with the clever use of fast scene movements & different angles shot from different evaluation. Since, I love hitting zombie and drooling over hot bishoujo with an added value that its a freaking Japanese school environment. It’s totally on a different level aside from the western zombie!

2] Occult Academy

Summary

This story revolves around a girl named Maya and a time-traveling agent named Uchida. Maya is the daughter of the former headmaster, who passed away in 1999, of a private Japanese academy dedicated to the study of the occult, and Uchida is a mysterious young man who has traveled back in time from 2012.

Thoughts

The unknown always baffle us human being because no one can really explain anything beside their own deluded and creative imagination yet we are so interested in it. Well, Occult Academy will try to understand & solve of those questions of the supernatural. First episode have grip me tight and make me wonder what kind of wacky supernatural activity is going to happen next.

Actually, it was quite fun to laugh at strategically placed scenes. Embrace yourself! This might be a bumpy ride.

3] Amagami SS

Summary

A second-year high school boy finds himself uneasy during Christmas time due to an experience in the past. However, this year at Christmas, he gets his last chance to ask out a graduating female senior named Haruka Morishima — or one of several other classmates. The story of the anime will be arranged in an omnibus format, with each heroine getting her own version of the story animated. Each heroine will sing her own version of the ending theme song.

Thoughts

Not much unless you love harem and be surrounded with beautiful girls all the times.

4] Ookami to Shichinin no Nakamatachi

Summary

A love comedy parodying fairy tales such as “Little Red Riding Hood,” “The Ant and the Grasshopper,” etc. Ookami Ryoko (Ookami-san) is a spunky high school girl. She is a member of a “fixer” club so called Otogi High School Bank. She fixes the school’s problems with her partner Akai Ringo (Akazukin-chan.)

Thoughts

Yes! An adult version of Taiga Aisaka from Toradora but her eyes look more fierce than Taiga herself. *drool* She’s tsundere, punches people with specially made neko gloves, and acted too masculine for boys. Anyway, this fixer club she joined seem interesting because she act like a contract killer getting jobs from headquarter. Not quite sure how it will be pan out from the look of episode 1.

5] Mitsudomoe

Summary

Newly hired teacher Satoshi Yabe is terrorized by his new students the Marui triplets.

Thoughts

This is perhaps one of the best loli-centric comedies I have seen in years, with the humor being unusually dark and the drama kept to a minimum (so far). Compare with Kodomo no jikan this would be a slightly funnier series involve with elementary student all together with the teacher inherited a higher degree of unfortunate bad luck with the kids(ep1 his balls got hit!).

6] Strike Witches 2

Summary

The Neuroi continue its quest to rampage earth!

Thoughts

More pantsu, animal ears, and hot fighting action with good old world war II weapons or a sharp katana against the evil alien that terrorize earth. Done!

7] Asobi ni Iku Yo

Summary

The story centers around Kio Kakazu , a high school freshman living in Okinawa. During a memorial service for one of his family ancestors. A mysterious girl with cat ears appears before him indroducing herself as Eris and claiming that she is an alien. However She be more troubling than he first realizes.

Thoughts

Some neko and boobies action with in a high school theme.

8] Seitokai Yakuindomo

Summary

Takatoshi is a new student in a recently gender-integrated high school, and is asked to join the student council as the vice president. Thus begins his days as the only normal boy among 3 female student council officers.

Thoughts

Anyone here who want to create a harem? Can I see a show of hands please? It’s the best time now! The show is something fast paced and energetic that tells a tale about this guy who got in to this new co-ed school suddenly becoming one of the vice president with a straight forward girl as his president along with a shorty & a kind hearted young ojou-sama(as if).

9] Sekirei – Pure Engagement

Summary

The battle to find the supreme Sekirei continues. Still some of the fighters and their masters refuse to participate in the battle since losing it means to lose the Sekirei forever, and many of them actually care about their partners, while others just use them as tools. A storm is rising on the horizon, a bigger threat approches the city and its about to bring pain and suffering to those who love and care for their Sekireis.

Thoughts

The first season was fun to watch with boobs flying around, young sekirei fighting for survival, and a well rounded harem toward that the main protagonist. It’s literally kill or be killed kinda of story but this one added with sugar, spice & everything nice inside.

10] Shiki

Summary

The story takes place in a small and what appears to be a peaceful village called, Sotoba. However, this is no ordinary village. Death seems to be tormenting the village and it is a common thing in Sotoba. Natsuno Yuuki, a new resident in Sotoba, hates the village and wants to move back to the city. However, he is determined to solve the mystery behind the strange death occurrences.

Thoughts

It’s like Twilight once again as this series talks about Vampire in this small Japanese town called, Sotoba. People who like to watch a darker genre well heres your piece of the pie. I won’t say it’s captivating at its first episode or maybe the second. So, let just see how the story would twist and turn as this is kinda slow for me.
