With the official launch of Comic Con 2012 yesterday, con-goer are are greeted with a full length trailer on the 5 part web mini-series, Forward Unto Dawn. The series will attempt to tell the story of how Master Chief inspired a young UNSC cadet, Thomas Lasky, who will eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC Infinity Spacecraft.

Each will runs for 15 minutes starting from the 5th of October until the final release date of Halo 4 on 6th of November. You can catch it on Machinima or on Halo waypoint.

The production quality looks high and the price tags for these 5 videos are even higher, averaging around 5 to 10 million in production cost. It’s essentially a move by Microsoft to drawn in new people to get hitch with the Halo 4 game. So, they can fast track gamers into the world of Halo. At the conclusion, these web series will be made into a 90 minute film with an additional 15 minutes of footages.

I can’t wait to see how this will turn out. Honestly, this is the closest fans got to see to a full length featured film of the Halo franchise. Some of you may have not know about this but Halo have been scheduled to become a movie production in the past. However, the script got shot down again and again by directors. So, none was made. I guess, they are afraid of turning a good game into a bad movie idea.

Also, I think the reasons behind is because it’s hard to create realistic drama for an action game like Halo and to add salt to the wound. You can’t give a face to Master Chief as he is always with his helmet as he is in all the Halo games. People are usually annoy to watch a movie that you can’t even read facial cue and emotion of an actor face that would express it.
